What is the benefit of an evaporative cooling hat versus a standard sun hat?
While a standard sun hat provides shade, an evaporative cooling hat (such as those from Mission or HyperKewl) actively lowers your head temperature. These hats are made with specialized fabrics that you soak in water and wring out. As airflow passes through the damp material, it triggers a cooling effect that can feel up to 30 degrees cooler than your body temperature. This process is chemical-free and can be reactivated throughout the day by simply rewetting the hat.
Are cooling hats worth it?
