FAQs
What is the difference between a soft-sided cooler and a hard cooler?
Soft-sided coolers, like those from Polar Bear Coolers or AO Coolers, are designed for portability and flexibility. They are much lighter than hard-shell coolers and can be easily squeezed into tight spaces like a car trunk or boat hatch. Despite being soft, high-quality models use high-density closed-cell foam that can keep ice for up to 24–48 hours. Hard coolers are generally more durable for long-term "stationary" use but lack the lightweight convenience of a soft-sided bag.
How do I choose the right cooler size for my needs?
Cooler capacity is often listed as the number of 12-oz cans it can hold with ice. A 12-pack cooler is ideal for personal use, a round of golf, or a short day trip. For family picnics or a full day at the beach, a 24 or 48-pack cooler is recommended. If you are hiking or need to carry your cooler long distances, consider a backpack cooler model to distribute the weight evenly across your shoulders.
Can I use these coolers for professional or industrial use?
Absolutely. Many of our coolers, such as the Camp Zero or Polar Bear professional lines, are built with rugged, tear-resistant outer shells and heavy-duty zippers. They are widely used by construction crews, long-haul truckers, and outdoor professionals who need a reliable way to keep food and drinks cold in demanding environments where traditional refrigeration isn't available.
