I've went through many fans over the years, I've used them mostly for trips out to the field with the US Army. Most of them were bulky and required multiple D cell batteries. I picked this fan up initially because I always have plenty of AA batteries in my bag. I've had the same fan for I don't know how long now, and I love it. It's light enough where I don't notice it in my bag, powerful enough to get a cool breeze even when the temperatures exceed 100? F. I just hang it in my tent from some 550 cord, and with a little adjustment to the base, it puts a gentle breeze out for hours. One set of 4 AA batteries seem to run it on low for about 24 hours, high cuts into that a bit. So if you plan on running it constantly, get the bulk pack of batteries. I've about worn out the switch on mine, but it's served me very well.

I purchased, this clip on fan,along with 2 other treva fans,I was going to return because I thought it was not going to do the job,but when I put the batteries in,WOW!!!,I SAID I'M KEEPING. It really is a great product.

I work in the Caribbean. I travel there monthly. I had a couple of the similar, older D-Cell powered 5 inch fans from O2Cool. I could clip them anywhere but lugging the 2 heavier D-Cell batteries in my luggage caused extra weight. I has to carry my own batteries for these older fans because D-Cells were harder to find.
I had read a review that the newer AA battery 5 inch clips fans were weak and under powered. Nothing could be further from the truth! The four needed AA batteries are lighter, and easy to find at any store or gas station. Both ran about the same running time, too. (30 hours). I like this newer Battery powered clip fan better. -r
