  • About Mattress Cooler

Water Based Cooling: The Mattress Cooler uses evaporative cooling to chill water 7-12 degrees below room temperature. The chilled water is then circulated through a thin cooling pad to pull away excess body heat trapped between your mattress and blanket.

Sleep Better: The Mattress Cooler provides direct cooling exactly where you need it...between your mattress and your blanket.

Cooling Pad Technology: Our cooling pads excellent thermal properties provide cooling at temperatures up to 78F while cotton pads require temperatures in the low 50's to start feeling cool.

Save Electricity: The Mattress Cooler is not a complete air conditioning replacement...your AC is still needed to keep temperatures and humidity reasonable. However, using a Mattress Cooler will allow you to set your thermostat at about 76F from 8PM-8AM instead of 66, saving you thousands of Kwh every year. Depending on your use, the Mattress Cooler could easily pay for itself in just a few months.

The Andersons have been thinking about Mattress Coolers since Amanda was pregnant with their first child during the summer of 2007. Summer in Houston is always hot, but between being pregnant and working nights as a nurse, the only way she could get any sleep at all was to crank down the AC way down into the 60's.

Richard knew better than to touch the thermostat, but after getting the first electric bill of the summer, he built the first mattress cooler prototype with a deep freezer, a 5 gallon bucket of salt water, an aquarium pump, and a lot of tubing. It worked(to well...condensation soaked the bed)....but it wasn't quite ready for "Shark Tank"....The deep freezer quickly went back to the garage, and Richard grudgingly put a check in the mail for the electric bill.

Over the years they tried countless overpriced and poorly performing products before stumbling upon evaporative coolers, which it turns out are common in the rest of the world, but nonexistant in the US where the only products available were luxury products in the $1000+ price range....far too expensive for the subpar cooling they delivered.

Their first first thought was....there is no way that works...how could a small evaporative cooler that uses just a penny of electricity a night cool two people... but for the price, it was worth a shot, and the results blew them away....here was a product line already in mass production that worked, could be adapted to the US market by simply changing the plug, and best of all could be offered for under $200 retail.

Within a few months they had tested a dozen different samples and had an initial shipment on the way. They opened for business in 2016 and have spent the last 2+ years learning the ropes of online sales and international trade. By 2018 they knew they were onto something, but they also knew that there were improvements to be made in the product itself. Based on hundreds of reviews and conversations with customers they worked with manufacturer's to develop a new and improved model that directly addressed earlier model's shortcomings.

The result is the all new "Mattress Cooler" which we are extremely excited to be launching in the fall of 2018. The Mattress Cooler has quieter operation and a much larger water tank than previous models...addressing the top two issues with earlier models. It also has an in line filter, upgraded pump and fan, and a much sturdier heavy weight construction. Just as importantly... the price is unchanged....Mattress-Cooler.com's goal remains to help people sleep better and save money....we would much rather sell millions of these at razor thin margins than just a few at outrageous high prices.

12" memory foam mattresses are great for support but retains all of your body heat. The cooler works great on top of the mattress but it got it got chilly. I've switched to a 3" foam mattress with the cooler underneath and it's working great! Thank you! Thank you!

Great cooling measures for a night shift nurse
August 16, 2020
I've sat on the idea of a mattress cooler or cooling blanket and debated what I wanted for over a year now.. and I finally made the plunge. My husband told me that I keep coming back to this water cooling pad idea after reading so many reviews and watching review videos. He told me to get it since it's constantly on my mind... So, here it is...

I've used this product for about a month now.... and here's what I have to say:

I am definitely not regretting this purchase. I work night shift as a RN, so that means, I need to sleep during the hot daytime hours. The California weather has been reaching 100 degrees... and this large cooling pad has been a lifesaver for me and my husband whom also works the night shift as a CNA. We need our daytime sleep. I love that it keeps me cool at during the day because I normally get really hot when I sleep, and especially because my memory foam mattress traps in a lot of my heat. I usually wake up with a sweaty back or front (sometimes, I'm a belly sleeper) on a hot day.

The trick is to ADD ICE COLD WATER to the machine to get you instantly cool.. I sleep with just a sheet on top of the pad. Sometimes, I find myself needing a blanket on a not so ridiculously hot day. But for those extra hot days, I have the cooling pad, fan, and AC unit on. But the AC unit hasn't been on as frequently with this pad in use now.

On initial set up, you'll need A LOT of water.. Fill the tank and run the machine... do this on repeat until the fill line stays constantly close to the max line.

I find myself refilling the machine constantly because I use it so frequently, but this is just a minor inconvenience. Benefits outweigh the inconvenience. But I would say a full tank can last a good 6 - 8 hours, I believe. I run it on F2. If the water tank is empty, it'll say "E1".

This product reminds me of the cooling pads that we use at the hospital to cool patients down when they are having high grade fevers.

On a side note... I got excited when I opened up the package and it had a slip saying that there will be 2 pads (an additional replacement pad), but I guess for the large, it is just the one pad. Also, the instructions state that the pad may need to be replaced after 6 months because of possible wear and tear, which worries me. I have a mattress protector on my mattress and then the cooling pad over it, then bed sheet. But for now, I'm hooked.
Pros
  • Easy to use and set up.
  • Keeps me cool during the hot day.
  • Put ice water in it for a good time. 😄😴 (You'll thank me for that. 🤣)
  • The large pad takes up most of my full-sized bed.
  • Affordable. It is totally worth it to have a good day's rest to have a clear mind at work. Best decision ever!
Cons
  • The pad sometimes moves around and crinkles up at the water "veins" making the surface not as smooth.
  • Bed sheets keep coming off and undone.
  • It would be nice to have a light in the water level indicator area so that I can see the blue floatation device better as I pour in the water.
  • When you turn off the machine, the water level can rise backwards into the machine and perhaps can overfill, so make sure you don't have it filled to the max when it is running. I have the machine on towels, just in case...they do recommend putting it on a shallow pan.

This really works!
July 11, 2020
My wife and I are full time cruisers on our 43 foot sailboat. We're anchored in the Florida Keys, don't run AC while away from the dock and it never gets below 85 with high humidity in summer.

The Mattress Cooler is a game changer for us. Even in this hot, humid environment it works. The first night we set it to maximum cooling, we woke up in the middle of the night COLD. Luckily there are adjustments.
Pros
  • Very easy setup
  • Low power draw
  • It really runs on 12 vdc
Cons
  • The pad is a little "crinkly" so you'll want more than a sheet between you and it.

Awesome

My wife recently got this for me and its awesome. I have the small mattress pad which covers about half of a queen mattress. Its great because I like to stay cool at night and my wife likes to be warm. Surprise I know!! It removes heat for the entire night and helps me sleep on warm summer nights. You want to make sure you check the water level before each night. I find keeping it about 3/4 full works the best. We have no A/C and it still works great. It even keeps me cool underneath a pillow top mattress cover. I would definately recommend this product.
Pros
  • All night cooling.
  • Quiet operation.
  • Long cord and tubing.
Cons
  • NONE!!!

I really love to sleep and the hot weather is keeping me from doing it especially during noon. I really love this product and will purchase more in the future.
